Cleaning a 16-Story Casino Tower — By Drone

Pearl River Resort's hotel tower sits atop a two-story circular base roughly 150 feet across, which meant no lift and no scaffold could reach the facade. Here's how we cleaned every floor anyway.

Quick Answer

Godwin Facility Services cleaned the full exterior facade of Pearl River Resort's 16-story casino hotel tower using a drone-mounted softwash system. The circular base beneath the tower blocked ground-based lifts and scaffolding entirely, so the crew staged their equipment on the roof and cleaned the building vertically from above — completing the tower facade in six working days without a single technician working at height.

The Challenge

Three problems stacked on top of each other

1

No way to reach the tower

The two-story circular base surrounding the tower blocked access for lifts and scaffolding entirely — ground-based equipment simply couldn't get close enough to the building.

2

A narrow work window

The resort needed cleaning limited to Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so weekend guests and events were never disrupted.

3

An unforgiving facade

Unlike brick or stucco, which can hide imperfections, the tower's EIFS exterior showed every streak of dirt and buildup clearly.

The Solution

Clean from the roof down, not the ground up

Our crew staged the truck and rig on the ground below the circular base, then routed the hose up two stories and roughly 150 feet across the roof to connect to the cleaning drone. From there, the tower was cleaned in vertical sections, one face at a time.

  • A low-pressure, high-GPM softwash system kept flow consistent even over the long hose run
  • The cleaning mix was adjusted throughout the job — the EIFS facade absorbed the solution rather than streaking, so heavier application was needed to fully break down buildup
  • Hose handlers stayed off-center on the roof, continuously monitoring both hose and drone to prevent snags and keep flow steady

The Results

What drone cleaning made possible

Full Access

The drone reached the entire facade of the tower — access that ground equipment couldn't achieve at any point.

Time Savings

The tower facade was completed in six working days instead of the weeks rope access would have required.

Improved Safety

No lifts, scaffolds, or ropes were needed, cutting out the liability and risk that come with work at height.

Zero Disruption

All work stayed inside the resort's weekday window, with no interference to weekend guests or events.

Beyond the tower itself, the crew completed additional exterior work — sidewalks, awnings, and lower-level cleaning — over twelve working days total, with occasional wind conditions limiting flight windows on the tower portion of the job.
